3 Tab shingles (The most economical shingle)

Traditional design and economical protection, the 3 tab shingle will provide your home with a classic look at an affordable price. What was once the most popular roofing product on the market, the 3 tab shingle has been surpassed in popularity by the laminate shingle, which offers better protection for a marginal increase in price.  For some roofing systems, the 3 tab shingle is used along the hips and ridges because of its flexibility and single layer design.

Notes: Some 3 tab shingles are actually warranted to lesser roof slopes than more premium asphalt products. Because the shingle is a single layer product, it has the flattest profile available in the asphalt product line. Some 3 tabs are warranted to 3/12 slopes, whereas most laminated and designer shingles are designed for slopes greater or equal to 4/12. When using a 3 tab shingle on a 3/12 sloped area, it is always recommended to use an ice and watershield underlayment prior to shingle installation.
